CPE Supervisors

Sanford Health, Fargo, ND is looking for a CPE Supervisor to develop a comprehensive CPE program to eventually include a residency program. The ideal candidate should have the experience and qualifications to develop a System sponsored ACPE accredited CPE Center.  (Sanford is currently a satellite of Good Samaritan Society – Specialty Care Center in Robbinsdale, MN).

CPE Supervisor/ Senior Staff Chaplain

Department of Spiritual Care

We are looking for an Associate or Full ACPE Supervisor to provide CPE Supervision Level I/II for our Residency Program, 6 Month Extended Intern Units, and Summer Intensive Intern Program. The CPE Supervisor/ Senior Staff Chaplain is one of two CPE Supervisors who collaborate together to supervise the Clinical Pastoral Education Program as well as deliver and coordinate spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff. S/he assists the Manager in the leadership of the Department of Spiritual Care and collaborates in the selection and supervision of residents and interns of the Clinical Pastoral Education program.

The UPH-Meriter Hospital CPE Program is a highly developed and integrated program of spiritual care for patients, families, and staff in this 448 bed community-based hospital.

Associated with the UPH-Meriter Department of Spiritual Care is the 75 member Association of Spiritual Caregivers which links community clergy and spiritual caregivers with the Department of Spiritual Care for clergy/spiritual caregiver education and development. The Department delivers 24/7 spiritual care through Night Chaplains coordinated by this position with monthly education/training.

Qualifications: Associate or Full ACPE Supervisor credential, ordination with ecclesiastical endorsement, and CPE Program administration and supervision of Accredited ACPE Programs. Association of Professional Chaplains Board Certification and advanced degree preferred.

The CPE Supervisor / Staff Chaplain supervises Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students, and maintains relationships with seminaries, community clergy and other relevant bodies. Provides interfaith pastoral services to patients, patients’ families and friends, and staff. Consults with hospital staff members in relation to patient care. Acts as a resource in decision making about ethical issues and Advance Directives. AA/EOE
Required: Masters level degree in Theology or related field. Certified as a Supervisor or Associate Supervisor by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). Certified (or certification eligible and working toward certification) as a Board Certified Chaplain in the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, the National Association of Jewish Chaplains, or a parallel cognate group in the area of pastoral care or pastoral counseling.

Desired: Master of Divinity degree, and/or post-graduate study.

Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago and Trinity Health System continue to search for an ACPE Supervisor

Trinity Health, a national Catholic health system, is funding a second CPE Supervisor at LUMC in Maywood, IL to offer ONLINE CPE for chaplains who are employed by Trinity Health and need additional CPE to pursue certification.

This new CPE Supervisor will work at Loyola and rotate with present Supervisor Jerry Kaelin in providing both online CPE for Trinity chaplains and traditional hospital-based CPE. LUMC is an academic medical center located 9 miles west of Chicago’s Loop, serving the highest acuity payor mix in the state of Illinois. Loyola’s CPE program is embedded in the mission-driven Pastoral Care department collaborating with inter-disciplinary medical teams and providing pro-active spiritual care to patients, families and staffs.  Click the link below for more details:

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois

Reporting to the VP of Mission Services, Department Administration. The Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor, hereafter referred to as the CPE Supervisor, provides primary supervision and management of ACPE students and programs in compliance with current ACPE Standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Masters degree from an accredited institution is required.
Certification/ACPE Supervisor in good standing.
Ability to lead and coordinate prayer.
Ability to understand, abide by and reference the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
Good Physical and emotional health.
Ability to accept and complete projects as assigned.
Competencies in basic word processing, design and document production as well as willingness to learn new technologies.
Ability to have frequent and close exposure to hospital patients, staff, visitors, vendors, some of whom may be critically ill.
